Why a live article needs stewardship
Because anyone can edit Wikipedia, an article that is accurate today may be vandalised, subtly skewed or left to drift out of date tomorrow. For a public figure or institution, that is a standing reputational exposure. Stewardship is the discipline of keeping watch and acting through the right channels when intervention is warranted.
We monitor the article and its talk page, distinguishing legitimate community edits - which we respect - from vandalism, error and policy breaches that ought to be addressed.
What stewardship covers
- Vandalism & defamation - identifying and reporting malicious or defamatory edits for prompt removal.
- Accuracy drift - catching well-meant but incorrect changes and correcting the record with sources.
- Currency - proposing updates as appointments, achievements and milestones occur.

Monitoring does not mean owning an article - no one owns a Wikipedia page, including its subject. We never edit-war or suppress legitimate content. We act as a vigilant, disclosed steward, raising issues through edit requests and the community's own noticeboards.
