A founder is not automatically notable - nor automatically not
Entrepreneurial success and a notable Wikipedia biography are related but distinct. Wikipedia assesses a founder as an individual, against independent coverage of them - not simply of their company. A widely covered company does not guarantee its founder a page, and vice versa. We test both honestly.
Where a founder has been the subject of significant, independent profiles, interviews-with-analysis, books or sustained reporting, a biography may be well founded. Where the coverage is really about the company, the better route may be a company entry instead - and we will say so.
What tends to support a founder's notability
- Independent profiles in reputable business and national media.
- Significant recognition - major awards, landmark exits, sustained influence in a field.
- Authorship or thought leadership covered by others, not just self-published.
Funding announcements, listicles and routine press releases do not count, however prominent the outlet that carried them - see reliable sources.
